Whitney Chelnik devotes her practice exclusively to family law matters including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution of assets, business valuation as well as divorce mediation and arbitration. Prior to joining the firm, she acquired significant commercial litigation experience including serving on the trial team for the defense in NAACP v. AcuSport, et al., a suit named by the National Law Journal as one of the most significant defense verdicts of 2003. Whitney is an accredited family law mediator, experienced in both private and court-appointed divorce mediation. She is included in the rosters of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Cases in multiple counties and serves on Early Settlement Panels for the Essex County Superior Court. Whitney has also served as a court appointed Guardian Ad Litem. In addition to her extensive litigation experience, Whitney is also trained as a Collaborative Law attorney and is actively involved in multiple professional associations focusing on the use of collaborative law. Whitney has been repeatedly recognized as a “Super Lawyers Rising Star” in the area of family law. She regularly appears in courts in Essex, Union, Middlesex, Morris, Somerset, Bergen and Hudson counties.
